Did anyone realise that the entire NS ministry was MIA after service? Not that we are unspiritual... In fact, as part of our commitment to build the most pastoral group in the church, we held a Brothers' Night at Hanyang's house(His parents went to Taiwan for a week so they have no idea what hit their house :P) We of cos had Pastor Shirley to pray for the house to stay intact as it will soon be hit by a force stronger than Hurricane Katrina, also known as the men from Singapore Armed Forces(aka SAF).
As usual, Daniel our DL made his grand appearance by coming late. We then took a super duper long bus ride to Thomson where Hanyang stays.
After arriving, we started preparing for our short skit which we were suppose to prepare over the week. The skit had to be based on army life so the 3 cgs came up with 3 different stories.
Skit 1. Life in Tekong BMT(also known as the island of Azkaban where Dementors live).
CD2 Action!
They brought us back to those bad memories... How we suffered in the hands of the Sergeants... How the physical training instructor made us do push ups and jumping jets like there is no tomorrow... I am so getting nightmares tonight...
Skit 2. How to lead a godly life in camp.
CD 3 Action!
They showed us how to live a godly life in our army camps, a godly life based on repentance from throwing away inedible SAF combat ration and pushing the blame to others when being caught for doing something wrong. To gain extra points, Michael even showed us how to do proper push ups! Junyao tried to do the one hand push up too but ended up falling on the ground. No surprise there...Skit 3(the winning skit! MY CG!). What will happen if CD1 goes to war.
Unfortunately i have no photos for the skit because i forgot to ask someone to help me take photos while i act as the lazy general who refused to use his rifle to shoot because he didnt want to clean the gunpowder after using it. I however have pictures of my CL Nicholas receiving our prize from Daniel and a victory taupok of Junyao.
After a fun time of laughing and taupoking, we went into a time of teaching. Jiehui, our UL, who just came back from the Leadership Conference in Thailand taught us on "Why we are in Hope". It may sound simple but it really hit many of us as Jiehui explained the vision of the Hope movement and the actions that have been taken to fulfill the Great Commission all over the world. Nicholas and Matthew also shared their testimonies about their recent short term mission trip to Thailand.
We joined hands and sang "peng you(friends)"(i hope my hanyupingying didnt fail me) to unite our hearts as one.
To end off the day, we prayed. We prayed like never before for growth in our ministry. We declared our desperation for God to work in our lives, our cgs and our camps. Like Jabez, we boldly ask God to enlarge our group during the coming Christmas season. We raised our hands and entrust our entire ministry into His hands.
"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request. "
