Hello, it's Claire here blogging in place of Mila temporarily as our dear Central A correspondent is far far away in Indonesia. And anyway, it has been a while since you've heard something from our very HAPPENING unit so I shall share a few things that happened lately.
On Tuesday, 7 of us namely me, Sandy, Mellissa, Pui Wah, Liping, Calean and Yuxin went to do street evax around National Library. Calean and I were actually quite scared because it was our first time doing street evangelism and that takes quite a lot of courage. But thankfully, our bravo heroines - Sandy, Puiwah and Liping were rather gung-ho about doing it. The situation was quite dismal because most of the people there looked rather old. So being rather desperate for younger contacts, we headed down to Woodlands instead to evax since Liping was having her games leaders' meeting there. We shocked many people who were going for the meeting because I think they weren't expecting Centralites to evax at Woodlands.
Anyway it was a success as we got SEVEN contacts within about less than 2 hours, of which some were rather responsive. I know it isn't fantastic results but the effort and desperation of my unit mates really encouraged me. It really takes a lot of courage and guts to approach complete strangers and I affirm them for having such a willing spirit! Help intercede for us as we work on these contacts because we're really really desperate to bring people for Christmas!
Moving on, yesterday we had caregroup! And caregroup was multitudes of fun, laughter and more fun! The pictures speaks for itself really.
We met up in the late morning for lunch at Coronation before heading to Guthrie House at 6th Avenue to buy ingredients to make our sandwiches.
Then we had to trot our way through extremely narrow pathways and bends before reaching our caregroup venue - Shiyou's house!
That's us hiding behind some random vehicle, trying to surprise her but we were unsuccessful because our dear Puiwah stomped too loudly and apparently, Shiyou could hear it from her room!
We began with charades and it was quite entertaining as people drew really weird things due to the undecipherable phrases and objects. But it was a good icebreaker!
Puiwah and Shiyou.
Puiwah's idea of how a Buddha looks like. It was further improvised by Yuxin; it had no hair initially. Nearly all of us were rolling on the floor laughing.
Then we went to her front yard and began our waterbomb games! I think games involving water are usually interesting because most of us just want to get one another wet! Our water games involved a lot of water (DUH!), a lot of screaming, a lot of sabotage and quite an amount of violence! Tsk tsk tsk..
Sherlyn versus Liping! Don't you think they resemble David versus Goliath?
All hell breaks loose after our games as everyone started throwing waterbombs at one another, or rather, pour buckets of water at each other to make sure everyone is drenched.
Busy bees filling water bombs.
Everyone drenched = Violent People! :/
Yay, drenched Sandy! Muahahaha, evil Claire.
Oh no, poor Sandy! Sandy, don't cry! (Sandy's gonna kill me for posting this!)
You actually see the ugly side of girls when it comes to water fights; they get quite violent! But we were happy girls and oops, sorry that we wasted A LOT of water. (:
Then some of us went to bathe/change/sun-tan at the front porch, lazing around a Wednesday afternoon before we started on the CA jumpers.
Yingci, Puiwah & Yuxin suntanning on the front porch.
Sherlyn, Sandy and I decided to make ham and cheese sandwiches in the meantime to fill our tummies. We made about 12 sandwiches (for 8 people) and I hope they enjoyed it.
Labourers at work! We bought 500 g of ham, 24 slices of cheese and 2 loaves of bread! Of course we couldn't finish them all..
Sandy, my co-labourer!
Our panda ham and cheese! Shiyou's toaster was so cute! It basically leaves an imprint of a panda after toasting. Toasters are innovative huh?
And after micro-waving it, it's time to eat! :D
Tsk tsk tsk. Sandy, sherlyn and I were busy eating while the others were doing the jumpers. Heh..
We then did the fabric paints for the jumpers and I think everyone is rather excited about the them because it's a very novel idea. I love them a lot and I don't think any district/unit/caregroup has done jumpers before so we're the first! Yay, trendsetters! :D
These are at the back of our jumpers, written in fabric paint.
A horde of jumpers! Too add on, all the fonts and designs are by hand alright! Spot us in Breakthrough Camp with these jumpers, bound to sweep you off your feet! :D
We then proceeded on with caregroup teaching on covenantal names led by Calean and Puiwah!
Calean and Puiwah! They both did a great job in the interactive activity!
Liping, Yingci and Yuxin busy with discussion.
I think the greeting of raindrops couldn't have ended caregroup more appropriately as God sending His rain upon His people. Although the rain did develop into a heavy downpour and most of us were drenched, AGAIN. But I enjoyed caregroup a lot, and I'm sure the others too!
Thanks Shiyou for being so hospitable and allowing us to have caregroup at your place! It was really so much more fun than going to a void deck or istana! Thanks Calean and Puiwah for putting in so much effort into holding this caregroup - teachings, games, holy comm et cetera. And thanks CA for making caregroup a whole lot more interesting; glad to have you guys in this race with me! (:
Once again, Central A is HAPPENING BEYOND HAPPENING!
Wow, long long post. Hmm.. I guess Mila would be back soon to relinquish her status as CA correspondent! And as for the happening Central A, we'll see you in camp for more happening things to come by! :D
