Happy Birthday Derrick!

In the recent Sunday, Derrick held his birthday party at his place. Hoho, the birthday boy turns 20 this year and so it means that, Derrick.. the first number of your age no longer starts with 1!

The guys gave no mercy and dumped him into the pool, TWICE! Well, boys either get dumped into the pool or tau pok-ed. Tsk tsk tsk..

The party goers, which included not only people from Hope but Derrick's campmates as well. It was a Birthday party cum MCG of sorts; clever thinking Derrick!

I told you boys will ALWAYS be boys; they wanted to dump another guy into the pool!

DIY chocolate fondue which Shijie & I painstakingly made. Was super shiok by the way.

Birthdays must involve cakes and cake-cutting!

OH and I forgot to mention it was also a BBQ in which the food was quite good!

If available, the book will be given to you the following Saturday during the worship service. Each person is only entitled to borrow one book at a time and has a limited time of 2 weeks to return it. If there is no demand for the book, the due date can be extended.

Games Review

Citadel
This is probably one of the most interesting and enjoyable game of the lot. Ranging from 2 to 8 players, it is equally fun no matter how many people are in the game. Personally I prefer more players, but a game of 2 players is extremely fun and challenging as well. The aim of the game is to build 8 districts in your city. Once 8 districts have been completed, the game ends and points are counted.

At the beginning of each round, everyone secretly chooses a character in a clockwise manner. This character has special abilities that can be activated during your turn. Once everyone has selected a card, the round starts from the assassin and the race to build 8 districts begins.

This is a game of strategy and persuasion. Every round is different as you get to choose another character. Collect gold as a merchant, or get more cards as an architect, or even switch hands as a magician, but dodge the thief and the assassin or else your turn will be futile. There is just so many ways of playing this game and the element of mystery of who is who just makes the game even more exciting. A problem is that first timers usually take a long time to choose the character they want. Solution: Have the top 3 characters you want in your head, so when the cards come to you, you can choose immediately without cracking your head.

I highly recommend this game at caregroup level and from what I have seen, both guys and girls love this game.
